Philosophy of life towards work

I recently watched a interesting tv documentary. It's about how we value work in our life. And it differs from culture to culture and of course from individual to individual. Generally speaking, it's interesting to note that in some western cultures, people choose to work hard in order to be able to better enjoy their leisure time, holidays or retirement. That's why they will generally fight for early retirement, for 35 hrs/work per week, for longer vacation leaves etc...Whereas in some asian cultures , people choose to rest/take a break in order to be in good condition to work efficiently. That's why they will either choose late retirement (after 65 years old) or start another 'career' or business after their official retirement.

The documentary even show an asian centenary woman (103 years old) who is still working in the same shop as cashier. And she has been working there for more than 80 years...

What about Mauritius ? What's our philosophy of life towards work ? Sure it depends on the individual. But do mauritians have common behaviours, attitudes etc towards work... ?

interesting commentary
according to me , mauritians are still farily laid back when it comes to work, they seem to work since it pays the bills, but whether they enjoy doing what they do, thats debatable.
i find many who complain about their jobs but dont really do anything about changing it or their situation.

that applies to their vacation aswell, i find among the asian mauritian, they seem not to enjoy the facilities in our country, the beautiful hotels, or the entertainment, reason being they give, its too expensive
but afterall being expensive means what, I CANT AFFORD IT, but how many of us actually make an effort in that direction , that i will afford it, i will one day stay in that hotel, or buy that rolex watch.
instead we find people avoiding such shops since they feel they cant afford it, wrong mindset, go in the shop and let the mind start beleiving it can , and its at that moment the law of attraction actually starts to work

so to me , work is important, but its working smart thats important and reaching a balance of working and enjoying a healthy lifestyle

Yes, what you are saying make sense...

And to extend the discussion, I think that with the rapid development of our society during the past decades,
we are already the victims of modern consumerism society which is dominated by materialism, facility, ready made stuff and services, instant ???, money, power, perception, image, etc... And we will continue to complain,
to envy our neighbours/friends/relatives 'success'. And we will still continue to blame the institutions etc... And we will still think that the grass is greener elsewhere etc...

But we will still not do anything or not do enough to
improve our current situation. Maybe because we still don’t want to leave our comfort zone...
